Fowler is a small town in Otero County along Highway 50 in the Arkansas River Valley, approximately 60 miles east of Pueblo. Founded in the 1880s around the railroad and irrigated farming, Fowler has remained an agricultural community centered on melon, chile, and vegetable production. The town is known for its annual Arkansas Valley Fair and community spirit. (Wikipedia)
Fowler offers a genuine small-town atmosphere with a walkable downtown, community parks, and strong local traditions. The Arkansas Valley Fair in late summer is a regional highlight. Lake Meredith and Lake Henry provide fishing nearby. Rocky Ford, known nationally for its melons, is just 10 miles east. The town is served by Fowler School District RE-4J.
Fowler homes are predominantly older construction from the early-to-mid 1900s, with some newer homes on the town's edges. Many have original ductwork that leaks conditioned air and older furnaces approaching or past their expected lifespan. The agricultural setting means heavy dust loads on equipment, especially during planting and harvest seasons.
